DEALER FACES TAX EVASION CHARGES#

Dealer Faces Charges for Not Paying Taxes Shepley Henri Goldberg, a used-car dealership located in Pompano Beach, Fla., has been arrested on charges that he stole more than $8,000 in sales tax he collected from customers, but failed to send in to the state, the Florida Department of Revenue announced. Goldberg, the owner of A 2 Zach's Auto Sales, Inc., was arrested on Feb. 1 on felony and misdemeanor charges relating to theft of state funds, failure to file six consecutive returns and refusal to file returns and pay taxes due. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines, as well as possible payment of penalty and investigative costs. A 2 Zach's Auto Sales, Inc. is located at 1401 S. Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. According to Revenue Department investigators, Goldberg collected tax from customers at his dealership. However, during various periods beginning in 2007 and lasting through periods in 2011, he failed to send in to the state all of the sales taxes that were collected or file his tax returns as required by law.
